Davis and I finally made it to Mommy Baby Yoga today. Although we spent just as much time nursing as we did doing yoga, it was a lot of fun! Between nursing sessions, he was so wide awake and entertained by the things around him. He was also the youngest in the class (the next youngest was 3months!) so he was the center of attention as everyone remembered how small their babies were at one time. We'll have even more fun at yoga in a month or so when he can support his head..but we've already learned some new soothing activities. Following yoga, we joined most the women and their babies for lunch at a local restaurant. What fun! And great information as we compared notes. I discovered today that the nursing cover not only makes nursing in public a bit more discreet, but keeps crumbs from falling on baby while I eat!
Other updates: We finally bought a stroller..the BOB revolution (we just copied James and Stephanie). It should be here Saturday and I'm very excited.

Week Off
I'm fortunate to be able to take this week off of work. This is my last week of treatment and our first week without grandparents helping, so it seemed like a great opportunity to spend some time with Davis and Kristen. Yesterday we went for a long walk around Fresh Pond in Cambridge and visited a potential day care. We liked the day care a lot -- it is an in-house day care just around the corner from us. Most of the instruction is in Spanish, which we like, and we liked the provider. We were also encouraged by the fact that there are other PHds and Post-Docs with their kids at this daycare. We have plans to visit a lot more day cares this week and are encouraged that we'll find something for the fall.

We went for a nice walk on Sunday, down to the lake, up to Starbucks, Ace Hardware, then back along the river.

Sunday, Lilly and Domino got brushed. The hair on the right is from Lilly.

Davis got his first bottle this weekend.

Our friends Sonya and Bill came to visit Saturday.

A Happy Mother's Day
Today is my first mother's day and so far it's been a wonderful day!
- It started with some beautful baby smiles this morning
- That was followed by wonderful cards (with massages from the grandparents) and a beautiful frame from Dad (can't wait to get a picture of Davis in there).
- Then Dave and Megan brought us brunch!
- That was followed by a fantastic walk with all three of us, of which Davis slept the entire time
- Now I'm just hanging out while Davis enjoys his mobile. He is so entertained by it, we have to restart it most times.
- John is going to make salmon for dinner!
- I started pumping milk two days ago and John gave Davis his first bottle last night (pics coming I'm sure)
- Davis is out of the smallest newborn clothes! Now he has a whole new exciting wardrobe.
- Grammie went home yesterday and we will miss her!

Twitter style updates
Clearly, there is simply not enough time to work on a blog post, since multiple times now I've had half finished posts go unpublished. I've therefore decided it's really not necessary to complete a post or even to write a post in complete, grammatically correct sentences. I'll therefore be changing the style of my blog posts until a future date when Davis gives me more than 10minutes each day.
Updates with Davis - he's developing so fast! Here's what he can do now at 3 weeks he wasn't able to do before:
Updates with Davis - he's developing so fast! Here's what he can do now at 3 weeks he wasn't able to do before:
- nap in the swing
- nap in the crib (if he's already very sleepy or completely asleep)
- hang out by himself in the crib or in his swing or in his bouncy seat observing the world
- calm much easier (now I sometimes simply have to walk him around to calm him down)
- nurse lying down (30minutes extra sleep for mom each nursing session)
- last night he only ate at 1:30 and 4:30 (of course he didn't go back to sleep after 4:30..)
- burp more easily (hence the easier to calm)
- we're still working on tummy time..for all the holding up of his neck he does while you hold him, he hasn't figured out on his tummy he can look up..but he can crawl if he has something to push against.
- follow the toys in his mobile
- last week we went to a breastfeeding group. Davis was pretty unhappy for most of it.
- yesterday we went to a drop in postpartum group. This went much better and we got to see our friends Leah and her son, Yasha (what a cutie!).
- this weekend we are thinking of trying a restaurant for brunch (there's a very family friendly one in Davis square).
- maybe..maybe, we'll go to a mommy and me yoga class on Friday. Hopefully, we'll also go visit Daddy at his office during lunch or at the end of the day.
- Visitations are picking up. Friends Josh, Courtney and Mack brought us homemade brunch on Sunday. We have friends stopping by tonight, tomorrow night, and Thursday at lunch time!
- I developed a breast infection that had me feeling pretty awful last Wednesday. I was feeling better by Saturday, but the red spot hadn't gone away, so now I'm on antibiotics to clear it up completely.
- I think the prenatal vitamin I was taking was partly responsible for Davis' upset tummy. He's doing much better now that I've stopped it.
- I've added cheese and yogurt back into my diet. Tomorrow..raw milk! After that, tomatoes..then finally strawberries and I'll be eating normally again (if it all goes well).
- I'm starting to look into home day care options this week. There are 11 of them within 0.5 mile walk of our house. Maybe one will work out!

Treatment Started
We'll I've started my radiation treatment. After going in a couple of weeks ago for my first radiation appointment for x-rays and planning, I've since started my regular radiation treatments. I have a total of 16 sessions and as of today I've completed 6.
Each session generally goes like this:
I leave the house at about 6:50 or 7:00 in the morning and drive to Davis Square where I hop on the T for a quick trip down to MGH. I arrive at the Radiation Oncology Center at about 7:30. Upon arrival, I scan a small card that lets them know I've arrived and I change into a hospital gown. Since my appointments are early they are usually on time and after a few minutes they usually come and take me to the treatment room where I lie down and they carefully align my body (using 5 pin-prick tattoos) so the radiation goes the the same spot each time. The therapists leave the room and after a few seconds the radiation is administered for about 10 seconds with a corresponding horn/alert noise. The therapists then return, rotate the head of the machine and administer another dose of radiation from underneath. I'm usually done, changed and on my way home by 8:00. After the T-ride back, I'm usuallly at work by 9:00 or 9:30. The only variations on this treatment are every 5 days they take x-rays to make sure nothing has moved around and every Tuesday I meet with the doctor leading my treatment.
