Update!!

The last couple of weeks have been a crazy wild time for us.  We decided on August 10th that we would move to St. Louis for Kristen's job in October instead of March.  We had talked about moving before the twins were born for a long time and thought we had decided against it.  But, as we talked through it again and as the pregnancy progresses we decided that moving with the twins inside instead of out will be much easier.

We had a trip planned for August 16th to19th to meet with three real-estate agents, a nanny, several preschools and the architect for Kristen's lab space.  We quickly re-oriented our trip to focus on finding a house.  We choose from the 3 agents based on our interactions via email and spent the next few days seriously talking about what we wanted in a house and filtering through many listings on http://zillow.com/ and the MLS listings the agents were sending.

Over the course of 3 days we:

  1. Saw about 25 houses in person
  2. Met with a loan officer at Midwest Bank Center
  3. Found 3 houses we liked and 1 we made an offer on
  4. Met with the Nanny and decided to HIRE HER NOW!
  5. Visited 2 preschools (we won't use them because of location, but they were great)
  6. Explored the neighborhood we are going to live in
  7. Met with the architect for Kristen's lab space
  8. Met with a nanny placement service
Since we have got back
  1. We have accepted the counter offer
  2. Have secured the loan (more or less)
  3. Have scheduled an inspection
  4. Have planned a trip to meet with more preschools / daycares for Davis until the nanny starts
  5. Have put together all the paperwork for the loan
  6. Worked out out to get our of our lease
  7. Have started making a lot of decisions about what we will move and not move
  8. Started talking to moving companies
The only thing missing has been sleep.  Kristen and I both had nights in St. Louis where we were so wound up we couldn't sleep and since we got back I have been up late working each night.

Its been a crazy and exciting time!

A quick Davis tidbit

We have had a hard time in the last couple of months getting Davis to sleep in his bed.  His preferred place to sleep has been on the floor in the doorway.  We have come to terms with bribing him to stay in bed.  This is actually teaching him deferred gratification and self control; he gets chocolate chips in his lunch if sleeps in his bed.

Tonight, we went through a few rounds of bedtime and it ended with me tucking Davis into bed and asking him if he wanted a kiss or to give me a kiss.  He said no definitively, but as soon as I left the room he started screaming a terrible scream.  When I went back in, he told me he wanted to kiss me and gave me some of the best toddler kisses I have ever had.  After that, he calmed down and went to sleep in his bed.

New pictures of the twins

Kristen and I have had a crazy few weeks (more about that later).  Monday we had the 18 week structural ultrasound for the twins.  Here are the pictures we went home with.  Everything went great at the appointment and the boys look great and are growing well.

Breakfast at Johnny D

This morning, after a very long and busy Wednesday to Friday, we all went to Johnny D's in Davis Square for breakfast.  The food was poor, but Davis had a good time playing with the house toys and listening to the music while we ate.  My favorite moment was when he was sitting on Kristen's lap dancing to the Jazz with lots of head and arm movement and he would turn around and tell her to dance.  He then told everybody else to dance.  I love seeing him enjoy music so much.

PS - I'm experimenting from posting from my phone.  Hopefully this will make it easier to get back into the blogging mode.
