Big Day!
Today was Davis's first day of Kindergarten. We also took the training wheels off his bike and had a nice little evening at the playground. (video at the bottom)

Would you want to be in the same class as your brother?
August 19th will be a momentous occasion for us here. Davis will begin kindergarten! He has been looking forward to kindergarten for a long time. For at least a year, every time we passed his soon-to-be-elementary school, he would say "I'm going to go to kindergarten, and then high school, and then college!". I hope time doesn't go so fast for real, but it does seem to be flying.
At dinner last week we were discussing Davis' class and the fact that he will have a friend from preschool in his class (ironically, also named Davis). Then it turned to the subject of whether Alex and Evan will be in the same class. We had a conversation that went something like this:
Me: "Well Davis, what do you think? Would you want to have your brother in your class?"
Davis: "Oh yes!"... "Wait, what do you mean?"
John: "We mean, if you had a twin brother, would you want him in your class?"
Davis: "Yes! Wait a second, what do you mean a twin brother?"
Me: "Like, if Alex or Evan was your age, would you want to be in the same class?"
Davis: "Oh, Alex or Evan? No. Not in the same class"
Update on college: Evan and Davis were both sick on Monday and feeling horrible. So, we had a family movie night. After we finished the movie, Davis wanted to keep watching TV. I put on MIT OpenCourseWare, thinking it would be fine for him to get started now on entry level computer science classes. He was quite interested in it. After a few minutes he asked "Mom, is this college?". I confirmed that indeed it was a college class! He said, "Oh, well, I don't think I want to go to college." "Why not Davis?"
"Because, I think I would just want to nap aallll of the time. Like, just lay down on the floor and sleep."
"Well, you know Davis, you ABSOLUTELY can nap in college all you want. I napped all of the time."

Yellowstone Pictures
We went to Yellowstone in July to visit Kristen's parents and spend a bunch of time outside. The kids had a really good time boating, playing in lakes, getting dirty and spending lots of time with Grandma and Grandpa. No pictures of scenery or animals here, but we did see a lot of amazing animals and wonderful sights. The kids were not impressed with the scenery and I missed an amazing photo opportunity of Alex and Evan eating cherrios with their back turned to old faithful as it erupted. It was a great trip and we'll be back again.
